Update August 1st, 2012

Here’s the press release for our screening at the HollyShorts Film Festival:

AWARD WINNING FILM “INTERVIEW DATE” TO SCREEN IN COMPETITION AT HOLLYSHORTS FILM FESTIVAL IN HOLLYWOOD, CA

Festival Takes Place August 9-16, 2012 at Grauman’s Chinese 6

August 1, 2012 HOLLYWOOD, CA—INTERVIEW DATE will be screening at the 8th annual HollyShorts Film Festival, which takes place August 9-16 at Grauman’s Chinese 6 in Hollywood. The award winning short film will screen on August 14th, at 4:00 p.m.

Interview Date is a classic case of mistaken identity where a blind date gets mixed with a job interview, leaving everyone at the right place at the right time with the wrong person. The film recently won Best Comedy at the Love Your Shorts Film Festival, Best Short Screenplay at the St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase Festival, Best Actor in a Short – Grant Lyon at the St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase Festival, and an Audience Award at the DC Shorts Film Festival.

The film is unique in that it is the first film made by successful stand-up comedians Grant Lyon and Mike Lemcke. Writer/Producer Grant Lyon can be heard often on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio and has appeared on the nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Show. He has performed at a number of prestigious comedy festivals like the Bridgetown Comedy Festival, the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival and opened for names like Dana Gould, Kevin Nealon, and Robin Williams. He is also a contributing writer to the Huffington Post. Writer/Director Mike Lemcke is also a stand-up comedian and a member of the sketch video group Four In The Back whose videos have been featured by sites like Funny or Die and Rooftop Comedy.

This year HollyShorts received over 1,000 submissions with filmmakers from 20 countries in competition. Twice named by MovieMaker Magazine as one of “25 Festivals Worth the Entry Fee,” HSFF is devoted to helping advance the careers of filmmakers by providing exposure through top-notch screenings and networking events during the highly anticipated week-long festival each August. The full schedule and tickets are currently available for all of the screenings and panels and can be purchased now by visiting http://www.hollyshorts.com or hollyshortsfilmfestival.eventbrite.com.

Here’s some things critics have said about Interview Date:

“In terms of simple performance, “Interview Date” works the best because of its wit and personification of double standards while using very simple innuendo that is both innocent and dirty at the same time.” – The Inside Reel

“It was well-acted and presented, with some very funny lines highlighting the similarities between looking for love and finding a job.” – Joe Flood, The Pink Line Project

“The writing is the star here, as it’s lively, fun and quirky … Of all the short films I’ve seen lately, Interview Date is definitely one of the better ones.” – Lil Miss Bratty’s Short Film Blog.

“This short was the best short in the showcase I viewed at the DC Shorts Film Festival … what set this short apart from most of the shorts that I saw was it’s hilarity.” – Mitchell Stover, The Short Films Blog

“It’s very creative!” – Arch Campbell, News Channel 8
